Now

Releasing your grip on the world

And letting the moment seize you

Is truly profound

To let it take you away

Carrying you in its waters

To the ethereal land of now

You are free, reborn

In the continual flow of the current

Settle

It’s about that time again, that time that al-ways happens

When the excitement of what’s new

Fades away, and starts being replaced by the same ol’ same ol’

I’m determined to break this cycle once and for all

To meddle with the curse to settle

This calls for some spicing up of the damn routine

Throw in some curiosity and sprinkle in some risk

Turn up the passion and there we have it

A steaming hot pie of life fresh out the oven

Mood

Sometimes existence is just plain pain

In an age where it hurts to merely live

A dullness accompanying everything that I do

And hidden beneath it all is the thought

That the lack of life may be the best feeling in the world

It being the absence of feeling, a state of nothingness, darkness

With it bringing a world without pain

Right now I’m where boredness is my captor

Trapping me in a cage of numbness

My mask shows a colored me bringing happiness

But that covers the darkness that resides within

Music

What does life sound like?

Life sounds like

The thumping of my heart when I go hard

The bird conversing from the treetops on a sunny day

The waves rhythmically sliding up the sandy shore

The chirping of the crickets in the backdrop of a cool summer night

The revving of my car engine as I accelerate up the hill ahead

The ringing in my ears after listening to blaring music

The growl from my stomach after not eating for what feels like forever

The slight movements of the plants as they flutter in the wind

The beating splashes made as I swim through the water

The pressing of the keys as I type on my keyboard

The crack of an egg as I drop its contents onto the tofu

The  deafening of the smoothie machine as it is in use

The crunch as I bite into a juicy pear

The click when I press my finger down on the mouse

The gasp and sigh of air as I breathe in and out

Drowsiness

Sometimes, thinking is just hard

I’m trying to get around to it

But drowsiness distills into my brain

Like grey clouds filling the blue sky

Seems that the container is fogged up

Thus setting my thoughts to sleep

A weariness lives within me

Continually tempting me to close my dreary eyes

Just for an eternal second

Into shutdown

Now

To be truly entrenched in this moment

Squeezing it, holding it

Not letting it slip

Living purposefully and being aware

Taking in the world around me

Through the six senses

Now

It’s slippery, squirming within my grasp

I won’t allow it escape
